A:TLA - The Difference

...No, I have not swapped over to the Kataanger side! lol!

Though this could be slightly considered as Kataang...soo...

I FOUND SOMETHING!!



It came form a conversation me and were having about, well, the usual...And we were on the subject of The Avatar and the Firelord, since it was on just the other night.

Now, usually AatFL is a Kataangers dream, because of all the seemingly Kataang evidence it offers. Roku advising Aang in Romance, Roku having a happy romance himself, "When Love is Real, it finds a way," "and being the Avatar doesn't hurt your chances, either"...

So in that sense, I'd easily see Katara being compared to Roku's girl, Ta Min. A parelell, if you will.

BUT. I found something. There is a stark difference between Ta Min and Katara. Roku/Tamin can't be compared to Kataang. Yes, there is a parelell, but it isn't really good news for Kataang.

The difference between them, is AMBIGUITY.

And there is one shot in this episode that perfectly illustrates it.

When it is Roku and Sozin's birthday, and they are walking down the stairs, Roku looks into the crowd and finds Ta Min, with her friend. She sees him, and LOOKS TO THE SIDE and BLUSHES.

Now, fast forward to Day of Black Sun. Aang kisses Katara. He pulls away, she looks at him, THEN LOOKS TO THE SIDE and BLUSHES.

The difference is in these looks.

Ta Min's look was one of obvious liking for Roku. She SMILED, she returned his feelings. It's Mutual.

Katara, however, is different. She looked SADDER, even GUILTY. She may not return his feelings. It's not Mutual.

Ambiguity is something that IS there, Mike and Bryan stressed this in that scene. And they do put parelells in the show for a reason.

They put this here to SHOW the difference between Roku's romance and Aang's romanctic wishes. It serves the SAME purpose as putting the dream-kiss in Nightmares and Daydreams, and putting that right before the actual kiss in DOBS.

I don't know if anyone has seen this before, but I whipped this up to get it out to the Zutarians out there...

Took me about 4 straight up hours to do cause I wanted it finished and out of my head quickly before it piled up with the rest of the stuff in my backlog of STUFFZ.

But Avid also said we Zutarians are constantly finding new evidence, new things to consider...Well, here's proof!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm becoming surer of Zutara BY THE DAY.

Now if only Nickelodeon would stop being total nimrods and treat Avatar, their prodigal child and the best thing it has to offer, the respect it deserves instead of always SHOVING it off the AIR DATES!

It's getting freaking ridiculous.
